A couple of years ago, I had the honor of collaborating with Spanish multi-instrumentalist Joel Olivé in the creation of this unique album. I served as production assistant and also performed the mastering. Joel is an amazing musician and healer. He makes most of his own instruments including an occasional microphone. His understanding of expanded states of consciousness and how to use music and sound to achieve deep mystical states is truly remarkable. Check out Joel’s websites for more about his work but first I invite you to listen to “Door To The Archaic” and prepare yourself for a deep journey experience!

"This is my first solo album, co-produced by Byron Metcalf, which has taken many months of passion, commitment and dedication to create. I am truly excited to share my love of music with you and the world.

I created Door to the Archaic whilst immersed in my world; exploring the depths and subtleties of the sounds of archaic instruments such as the didgeridoo, the bina and the drums. Full of care, respect and honoring the true nature of live instruments, leaving me to be freely and creatively inspired by the sound journeys and the sound itself.

These tracks were created to penetrate into the deepest layers of consciousness. I used many self-made archaic instruments including deep didgeridoos, monochord frame drums, rattles, shamanic drums, ocean drums, kalimbas, taiko and hirado o’daiko and rudra bina. I also used some others not made by me, like my own voice, mouth arp, singing bowls, cymbals, symphonic gongs, tempura, gong tubes, what-what tubes, bamboo leafs, djembe, darvouka, riq, e-bow, computer software and nord modular synthesizer. Most of the sounds were recorded on a self-made large diaphragm condenser microphone.”

This is a very special album. One of my all time favorites. Drums and percussion are actually soothing. Mark Seelig has an exotic eastern sound. Nobody does it like these 2 guys. Well done!
